How an engagement works
- Enquiry
Describe the matter briefly and tell us if a deadline is running. We reply within one business day.
- Assessment
We clarify what you need and what information we require, and check for conflicts of interest.
- Proposal
We propose the scope of work, the timing and the fee. The arrangement is in writing, in an engagement contract.
- The work
We carry out the analysis, prepare the opinion or documents and take the agreed steps. You know who leads the matter and how to reach them.
Where the Measures against Money Laundering Act requires it, for example in property or share transactions, we identify the client and the company’s beneficial owners.
To act on your behalf we need a power of attorney, which for some steps must be notarised. A power of attorney signed abroad is notarised locally and given an apostille or legalised. Meetings can take place online, and many documents, including our engagement contract, can be signed with a qualified electronic signature.
Please bring or send in advance:
- the contract with the other party, with annexes, general terms and orders;
- the correspondence on the matter, including emails and messages;
- any court papers, notices or decisions you have received, with the date they were served on you;
- a current Commercial Register extract for the company, if you act on its behalf;
- invoices, payment records and statements for the amounts in dispute.
Tell us straight away if a deadline is running, for example 10 days for an appeal under the Public Procurement Act or one month to object to an order for payment.
